Oxford-based Comment, which offers configuration and customisation to non-specialist retailers, will provide Datz.com-branded download vouchers with phones supplied to outlets such as Woolworths, WH Smith, Littlewoods and Sainsbury’s.
Comment managing director Michael Richardson said: “We’ve been looking to complement the sale of phones with accessories for some time, and feel that music will become the most popular phone accessory.”
Comment business development manager Anna Cole-Morgan added: “We can offer tangible extra value to the handset that’s easy for customers to understand and is instantly available. When a customer registers, we can identify where they came from, be it Sainsbury’s or any other retailer, so we can make specific tailored offers that suit both the retailer and customer.”
Datz.com has supply agreements with record labels including Universal, Sony BMG, Warner and EMI, along with several other labels, enabling customers to choose from over 800,000 tracks.
