Talkmobile tariffs cost between £12-18 per month and customers are tied to a minimum nine-month contract. The Talkmobile £12 tariff gives customers 50 free minutes and 50 free texts each month, customers paying £15 per month will receive 75 free minutes and 75 texts, while the £18 tariff offers 100 free minutes and 100 texts.
The deal will see Carphone rent excess network capacity from Vodafone to create Talkmobile. The news is somewhat of a surprise as Carphone announced last year that it would no longer sell Vodafone contracts.
Carphone already has similar MVNO services, Fresh and TalkTalk Mobile, which use the T-Mobile network.
A Carphone Warehouse spokesman said: “Many Pay As You Go customers are unwilling to sign up to 18- month contracts because they don’t want to be committed for that length of time. These customers are often spending more than £15 a month on topping up so joining Talkmobile will save them money.”
