Phones 4U has released ‘MusicStation Meal Deals’ following the launch of the unlimited music download application on Vodafone last week.
Although the service will be available on 13 Vodafone handsets, the Phones 4U/Vodafone advertising campaign will focus on the LG Viewty touch screen and five megapixel camera phone as the ideal handset to run the application. The application will be made available on more handsets in the lead up to Christmas, including BlackBerry devices.
Phones 4U’s MusicStation Meal Deal tariffs on Vodafone range from £43.62 a month for 500 minutes, 1000 texts and unlimited MusicStation downloads, to £53.62 a month for 750 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited mobile internet and unlimited MusicStation downloads.
MusicStation will be free for the first six months and will cost £1.99 a week after that.
The tariffs will be exclusive to Phones 4U but Vodafone will release new Christmas tariffs.
Prepay users will also pay £1.99 a week to subscribe to MusicStation. Subscribers have access to more than one million tracks from Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music, EMI Music, Warner Music and independent labels.
Phones 4U marketing director Jim Slater said: “It is clear that there is a lot of interest in a mobile-based music service which works on a wide range of handsets, offers a large choice of tracks, downloads without wires and is available at a sensible price. This is an exciting time for the mobile industry.”
Vodafone UK head of mobile internet and content services Al Russell added: “With unlimited access to digital music through their mobiles, Vodafone customers have ultimate music freedom. On 3G devices, Vodafone consumers will be able to download a full music track in about 30 seconds. On newer HSDPA devices, an entire album can be downloaded in about a minute.”
