The new Pearl comes with a sleek blue finish and includes an enhanced visual interface that displays text with greater legibility. It’s also the first handset in the Pearl range to include WIFI.
The handset features a 2 megapixel camera and is the first BlackBerry to have video recording capability. It also includes a photo editing application that allows customers to create photo albums and edit pictures.
RIM has also installed a software package called Roxio Media Manager on the handset, which enables users to manage their media files from a PC. The software allows customers to import MP3 files from CDs as well as creating playlists and artwork for their music.
RIM president and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said: “The new BlackBerry Pearl 8120 with its powerful communications and multimedia features helps users make the most of their time in both personal and professional settings.”
