However the deal has yet to be concluded after reports surfaced that China Mobile doesn’t want to enter a revenue share agreement with Apple. This could be a major stumbling block as Apple has been signing excusive deals with operators and claiming a portion of the subscription revenue in return. Apple has similar agreements in place with O2 in the UK and AT&T in the US.
But Apple may well be tempted to reach an agreement because China Mobile is the world’s largest mobile operator with 350 million subscribers.
China Mobile CEO Wang Jianzhou said: "Our customers like this kind of fashionable product. We still think we can maintain the operator-centric model because we have the customers, the end users.”
