Sarin beat off competition from ITV’s Michael Grade, BSkyB’s James Murdoch and BT’s Ben Verwaayen, to clinch the award at a ceremony in London.
The Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) and media intelligence company Cision awarded Sarin with the honour, which recognises his effective use of PR since the start of the year.
The judges revealed that they were particularly impressed by the way that Sarin used measured and consistent communication to gain market support for a dual strategy of chasing emerging market growth whilst at the same time competing on content in mature markets.
Sarin said: “It is an honour to be chosen as Business Communicator of the Year. Throughout my career I have always given a high priority to effective communications, particularly in ensuring alignment of messages across internal and external stakeholders. I am pleased that this has been recognised by the judging panel".
