Managing director Graeme Oxby (pictured) said there was very little advertising on the Virgin Bites internet and mobile entertainment portal, but there was further opportunity to increase banner advertisements and link sponsorship.
“Virgin Mobile has not done a lot in the mobile advertising space so far, but we will be doing more in 2008,” said Oxby.
Oxby added that the MVNO was considering introducing advertising-funded services. He said it would be a natural extension of the advertising sales business generated by Virgin Media television programs and broadband portals.
“Mobile advertising is going to be a very significant part of the market. It’s an interesting space for us to be in, but we need to work on an appropriate advertising model,” he said.
