Ward joins from mobile video provider Mobix Interactive, where he oversaw the development of consumer-based live services. Before joining Mobix, Ward gained seven years music industry experience, including a period as business and digital manager at independent record label Kickin Music.
In his new role Ward will oversee O2’s music services and be responsible for the operators music strategy.
O2 UK head of content Grahame Riddell said: “Having successfully established ourselves in the digital music space and with the integration of music services into sponsorship properties such as The O2 and O2 Wireless Festival, Matt’s appointment will further strengthen the delivery of new and engaging content for our customers.”
Ward added: “This move to head up music at O2 presents a diverse and exciting challenge within the ever-evolving digital music space where O2 are already strongly positioned.”
