As part of the pilot, 5,000 Motorola V8 boxes will have their handbooks removed and replaced by either a USB stick or CD containing an electronic guide, or a leaflet directing the customer to TMTI’s web simulator.
The pilot will be open only to Orange upgrade customers who contact the network directly.
TMTI managing director Crispin Thomas said it will announce similar partnerships with other networks and manufacturers in Q2.
He said: “The simulator is a powerful tool to teach users about their device, as opposed to a cumbersome handbook.”
Commercial director Neil Jones added: “We want to help mobile companies improve their green credentials by reducing box size and content.”
