The standard commission for selling a contract handset has decreased from £12 to £10.
Commission on ‘banded’ handsets, on which Carphone has offered a bonus payment of £5-£20 extra commission, has been dropped altogether.
Staff also face losing their clawback protection, even if fraudulent customers pass credit checks in the first place, it was claimed.
One Carphone staffer estimated the changes would cost employees around £100 per month in wages. The staffer said: “It’s unjustified. All that commission adds up to a lot of money.”
But a Carphone spokesman said clawback guidelines had not changed and staff would be protected provided they had followed credit checking procedures.
