The new site, connect2earth.org is aimed at people aged 13 to 35 and gives them an opportunity to discuss environment issues and upload videos and pictures.

Nokia will give away a free handset each month to the individual whose work or idea has been ranked the best amongst other contributors. An overall winner will be given the opportunity to participate in the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona in October and explain their ideas directly to political, environmental and business leaders from around the world.

Nokia vice president of environmental affairs Kirsi Sormunen said: “We wanted to support WWF and IUCN in this exciting initiative to create a way for young people to express and share their ideas and connect with their peers in a new way.”
