The move comes after a six-month strategy review of the business that determined the group should streamline its staff by 10 per cent in order to ‘simplify its operating model’. Vodafone also revealed that it would recruit an additional 330 retail staff in order to meet demand for data product sales.
Vodafone UK chief executive Nick Read said: “Vodafone UK is clearly focused on building on its market leading position in data products and services. Today we are announcing a series of targeted investments to meet growing demand in this area, whilst simplifying the way we work, putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.”
Vodafone also unveiled plans for an 850 seat purpose built customer services centre in Stoke-on-Trent and four new Vodafone retail stores, including one in the new Terminal 5 building at Heathrow airport.
