MVNO Lebara Mobile is now available in 70,000 retail outlets. It said last week if it became available in 30,000 more, it could reach the entire UK market.
Launched in the UK last October, the low-cost, ethnic-targeted MVNO said such penetration meant it had been awarded permission by The Network Forum to use the ‘Electronic Top-Up’ logo at point of sale. Sainsbury’s rolled out Lebara top-up to all its 800 stores on March 14.
Lebara UK trade marketing manager Saddia Khalique said: “Sales through Sainsbury’s have been quite impressive, but we’re still to start branding the point of sale so customers realise we are there.
“Once we drive awareness, via The Network Forum website, we expect to see a massive increase in sales.”
