Carphone Warehouse’s retail joint venture with Best Buy in the US is rolling out at a rate of 20 stores per week, it said last week.
Carphone is setting up mobile phone concessions across Best Buy’s entire US retail estate.
Carphone UK chief executive Andrew Harrison said: "The Best Buy roll out is going very weel. We are adding about 20 stors per week at the moment."
Carphone said in a statement: “Given the excellent progress, we are accelerating the roll-out so the whole of Best Buy’s US mobile operations will be converted to the new Best Buy Mobile format by the end of the current calendar year – a year earlier than planned.”
Carphone said profits from the joint venture will be reinvested in store conversion plus staff recruitment and training, and that it expected profitability for the US business to hit £25-35 million by 2011.
