Vodafone will extend its fast mobile broadband coverage in a multi-million pound investment.
The company will bring 7.2Mbps download speeds to Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Reading. This will extend coverage to 3 million people, with the upgrade expected to be completed by the end of this autumn.
London and major airports are already serviced with the high-speed coverage, while the rest of the UK has speeds of up to 1.8Mbps
The extension will coincide with Vodafone refreshing its point of sales of mobile broadband. More information will be made available for customers, so that they can see typical download times for media such as videos or images.
Vodafone UK will be bringing back its series of TBA live music events this summer.
The first free gig this year will be held at Prices Street Gardens, Edinburgh, on June 1. The Sugababes, The Feeling and Gnarls Barkley have been announced on the bill.
Vodafone customers will be able to win tickets for themselves and two friends by texting a special number, there will also be promotions on its website.
This year’s handset partner will be Sony Ericsson, which will be promoting its Expresso Black W890i Walkman phone.
Guests to the events will be able to receive videos, a java application gig guide and images from the events through Bluetooth.
The gigs will be broadcast on Channel 4, with a second TBA event planned for August, which will precede the Vodafone Live Music Awards in September.
