Avenir Telecom UK has set up a joint venture with leading IT distributor SCC, part of Specialist Computer Holdings (SCH), to collaborate on convergence leads across the mobile and IT sectors.
SCH is Europe’s largest privately owned IT group. Its IT business works out of nine European markets and turns over €3.5 billion (£2.78bn) per year.
It is the first of two major joint ventures Avenir is running within the IT channel.
Avenir is working with ECT, the IT reseller division of SCC, to make IT kit and services available to its dealer base, along with recurring revenues and high margin opportunities from IT sales, and to process airtime connections from ECT’s base of resellers.
It is expected to confirm a second joint venture partner within the next fortnight.
The SCH deal should also allow Avenir to pitch for UK network supply contracts with broader offerings, and even enable Avenir Group to tender for convergence business on pan-European contracts across common markets.
Avenir managing director Tanny Price said: “We have invested significant time and resources in the IT channel. This reflects our commitment to our business and customers.”
ECT’s Andy Wright said: “By uniting, we can provide airtime alongside devices and connectivity, which is a first in the IT reseller sector.”
