MusicStation said last week it had become the UK’s largest digital music subscription service in terms of subscriber numbers.

MusicStation launched last year on Vodafone, allowing users unlimited downloads for £1.99 a week including data costs.

Chairman of MusicStation parent company Omnifone Rob Lewis said: "MusicStation makes the traditional ‘PC centric’ model – where users download music to PC before transferring it – unnecessary and outdated."

MusicStation declined to reveal actual subscribers numbers, but said record label Universal confirmed its UK status as the largest digital download music service.
