Ofcom has closed an investigation into misselling by Tesco Telecoms of its fixed line business but will continue to monitor the business for six months.
The industry regulator began the investigation last May following numerous customer complaints of misselling, and found operational flaws in relation to the provision of fixed-line telecommunications services.
Ofcom eventually found that Tesco Telecoms now generates only a small number of misselling complaints and the business has resolved its operational problems. It said it did not find evidence to suggest that Tesco Telecoms or agents working for Tesco Telecoms had been engaged in systematic misselling to consumers.
However, Ofcom has warned Tesco Telecoms that it will reopen the investigation if there is any indication of such activity during the six-month monitoring period.
