Vodafone extends mapping service

Vodafone UK has teamed up with mobile mapping solutions company Telmap and online mapping specialist Multimap to provide an extended navigation service to its customers.

The new Find and Go service, launched July 21, allows customers to send travel information to their mobile from their PC using the Multimap website. The information is then accessible via Vodafone’s Live portal.

Features include directions for both drivers and pedestrians, including advice on alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion, as well as information on local hotels, restaurants and attractions.

Customers can also access Multimap’s Driving Direction Service, offering spoken turn by turn details, free of charge for three months when purchasing the Nokia N95 8GB, N78 or N6120. It is also available free for one month on other compatible handsets.

After this period customers can continue the service for £5 per month.

Vodafone UK head of internet services Al Russell said: "Building on the success of Vodafone SatNav we wanted to provide even more customers with access to the best location based services on their phone.

"Find & Go now gives customers everything they need to find and travel to their chosen destination with the utmost ease."

Multimap chief executive Jeff Kelisky said: "This deal makes it simple for Multimap and Vodafone customers to send direction information to their mobile phones from the web so they can navigate while on the go for a seamless experience.

Telmap chief executive Oren Nissim said: "Our partnership with Vodafone takes mobile navigation further than ever before, using mobile and web to deliver a totally new experience.

"Find & Go’s new features provide consumers with an experience that goes beyond turn-by-turn navigation. The availability of real-time local information and the technology to get you there go and-in-hand when delivering tomorrow’s mobile location services."
