Virgin Mobile sponsorship of Bebo’s online teenage drama series, ‘The Secret World of Sam King’, will see the show’s protagonist take in the V Festival in one of its episodes.
Virgin Mobile confirmed sponsorship of social networking site Bebo’s new web series this week. It said the deal will see one episode filmed on location at the V Festival, the Virgin Media sponsored music festival.
Virgin Mobile managing director of marketing James Kydd said: "Virgin Mobile is constantly looking for ways to engage with its customer market, and we are confident that such an innovative sponsorship opportunity will create real impact with Bebo users."
Bebo vice president of sales Mark Charkin said: "We are very excited to have Virgin Mobile on board for Sam King. Their interest in aligning with our newest entertainment property is a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate our ongoing success in the arena of social media, and in particular our proven funding models."
Virgin has also launched Festival Buddy, a service for V Festival 2008 available on all networks to festival goers.
The application allows revelers to find line-up information, create a personal schedule and download V Festival related content such as ringtones, wallpapers and videos.
Virgin Mobile music sponsorship manager Paul Shulver said: "Festival Buddy will be modified for both V Festival sites, with opening times, maps, traffic, line-up information, safety information and free downloads, offering the chance for V Festival attendees to completely tailor-make their festival experience."
