Vodafone has unveiled its first prepay promotion in two years, offering free evening and weekend texts according to monthly usage.
Topping up £10 a month gives them unlimited evening and weekend texts, and a top up of £30 or more provides them with unlimited texts to use any time.
It is Vodafone’s first promotional activity for prepay customers in two years, since it launched its weekend offer, affording prepay users topping-up £5 calltime per week free weekend calls and users topping-up £2.50 of texts per week free weekend texts.
Vodafone consumer director Ian Shepherd said: "Vodafone is the first and only UK mobile network to let prepay customers send free unlimited texts when they top up from just £5 per month. And with a new simple flat rate of 20p for calls, we continue to offer outstanding value."
New and existing customers who opt for the reward will be switched over to a the new Vodafone Simply price plan which reduces peak time call rates from 30p to 20p a minute.
A spokeswomen said the new offer is in response to the success of its free weekend offer.
"Customers can now choose if they want free calls or texts. Free weekends was a weekly offer and was dependent on the customer spending their top up. With the new offer it’s not about how much of the top up is used, it’s just about how much is actually topped up," said the spokeswoman.
Vodafone is also launching the Sony Ericsson K770i in two exclusive colours, silver and pink. The 3G handset has a 3.2 megapixel camera and is retailing online at £80.
