Aerofone founder Jo Marks exits

Aerofone has confirmed current director of business development Mike Morris will assume the role of managing director following Aerofone founder and chief executive Jo Marks’ departure.

Marks leaves Aerofone after 23 years at the helm.

She said: "I believe that it is the right time to leave. I  am extremely proud of Aerofone’s enormous success having recently won the coveted accolade of best customer service for the UK mobile industry at the recent Mobile News Awards.

"I have had a fantastic and exciting time in the mobile phone industry and it was a great honour to be voted Industry Personality of the Year in 2006 [at the 2006 Mobile News Awards]. I feel that the time is now right to hand over the helm."

Marks set up Aerofone in 1985 and sold it to Icelandic telecoms group Síminn in March 2007. She said: "I leave behind me a great team, with a great future, in very capable hands.

"The business is transitioning from a mobile business into a true information communication technology organisation."

Morris, taking charge, worked at Vodafone for nine years where he oversaw much of Vodafone’s service provision strategy.
