T-Mobile staff get new pay structure

T-Mobile’s trial of a new commission scheme is to be made permanent from October 1 (see issue 421).

Staff were told of the change via the company in-tray last week.

The original scheme awarded staff points on every sale towards bonus targets and was criticised as unclear. The new scheme gives staff set commission on prepay sales (£3) and new contracts (£5).

Store managers will receive store targets which, if met, will see both managers and staff earn a quarterly bonus on top of commissions.

One staffer said: "The old point system was rubbish; no one ever really knew what they were earning. It was too complicated.

"One sales advisor in the area took home £800 commission last month, so it is a big improvement."

Another said: "Staff love it because they are earning more money than before."
