Flash memory card manufacturer SanDisk has unveiled its 16GB memory card range, the largest storage capacity for mobiles on the market to date.
The 16GB microSDHC, Memory Stick Micro and M2 cards are available in the UK from this week, panning out across Europe, US and Asia during the month.
SanDisk has launched a campaign called Wake Up Your Mobile, building consumer awareness of the benefits of memory cards via its website www.wakeupyourphone.com and promoting the products at music festivals.
“Handsets have become far more than just phones – they’ve become mobile jukeboxes, mobile offices, even mobile movie theatres,” said Current Analysis research director for mobile devices Avi Greengart.
“There is an acute need for more mobile storage capacity; 16GB gives consumers the ability to carry their digital content with them and still have room to do more with their mobile phones.”
Vodafone, The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U are stocking the memory cards. SanDisk’s 16GB microSDHC and M2 cards are expected to retail for £45 and £60 respectively (plus VAT).
