Brightstar has struck a deal with Palm to offer Independent Mobile Phone Dealers Association (IMPDA) members discounted handsets.

They will get priority stock allocation of the Palm Treo Pro (pictured), set for launch on October 13. Members will also receive a discount of 15–20 per cent.

Technical support will be free and not through the usual ‘0906’ premium rate number.

An IMPDA spokesman said: “Consumers will also benefit, because of Brightstar’s fast turn around for replacements. A faulty handset will be replaced within 24 hours and sent direct to the consumer.”

The IMPDA has also announced a deal with Legatio, an AVS and CV2 credit check system provider. The deal means members will pay a start up fee of £150 for the service and then just 68p (plus VAT) per credit check, saving 40-50p per check. It claims the service can save dealers around £20 per month.
