3 takes Nokia music service

3 is set to be the first operator to stock handsets with Nokia Comes With Music.

After reluctance from all networks, Mobile News understands 3 is the first to come round.

Network resistance is thought to stem from the service conflicting with their own music services and it is not known if Nokia has offered 3 a share of the income to take on the service.

Carphone currently has an exclusive on the service on prepay with the Nokia 5310.

It will offer the service from next month on the N95 8GB on contract, and the N96 and 5800 at a later date. The service will be free for one year, giving customers access to millions of music tracks.

No other network said it had plans to offer the service. Nokia and 3 were unavailable for comment.
