Shoreditch House in East London was the only place to be last night, as the winners of the 2008 What Mobile Awards were revealed during an informal evening of stand-up comedy and entertainment.
Cockney comic Micky Flanagan hosted the event at the exclusive private members club and celebrity haunt, where 160 industry guests partied until the early hours.
Sony Ericsson were the biggest winners on the night, scooping two awards for Best Manufacturer and Best Music Phone (W890i).
Vodafone took home the award for Best Network, while the Apple iPhone 3G won the coveted Mobile Phone of the Year award.
The What Mobile Awards, a key awards ceremony run by Mobile News sister-title What Mobile, is now in its fourth year. It is unique in the industry because every single winner is picked by consumers.
More than three thousand What Mobile readers voted for their favourite mobile gadgetry through the magazine and online.
What Mobile editor Jonathan Morris said: “Our awards have continued to grow year on year, thanks to the increasing support from readers and online users that appreciate being able to give their own opinion on the products and services they use.
“Consequently, the industry now realises how important winning an award of this nature is, compared to the traditional judging system or a choice made by a single person.”
