Toshiba eyes dealers for laptop push

Toshiba said last week it is to launch a range of SIM-embedded   laptops in conjunction with network operators.

It said it is already working with network partners on an HSDPA-ready range of four devices for business customers via the mobile sales channel, and is encouraged by strong sales of devices bundled with USB mobile broadband dongles already.

“A number of opportunities exist for sales of Toshiba laptops with mobile broadband contracts. The subsidised nature of these deals makes the proposition very attractive for consumers, and we’re seeing a good volume of sales as a result,” said a Toshiba spokesperson.

“This type of sale is growing beyond initial expectations, helped by strong marketing support across a variety of media.”

Toshiba announced the addition of the high-end Portégé R600 (pictured), A600, M750 and Satellite Pro S300 laptops last week, all with integrated Intel Centrino 2 processors, webcam, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The range in price from £439 to £1,099.
