Nokia has announced new services including email and instant messaging (IM) systems and the latest version of Nokia Maps.
Nokia Messaging will be available on handsets in the first quarter of 2009 and supports email and IM accounts such as Yahoo, Windows Live Messenger, Gmail, AOL and Nokia’s own service Mail on Ovi.
Nokia vice president for consumer messaging services and software Tom Furlong said: “In response to overwhelming consumer feedback that messaging is a critical, must-have feature, Nokia has responded with solutions to bring messaging to the broadest range of devices and to ensure the service works with the most popular messaging services in the market.”
In addition Nokia will introduce web access to Mail on Ovi, which will act as an access point to other Ovi services for customers.
The new version of Nokia Maps will also integrate with Ovi services, offering 3D landmarks and help people plan their journey.
The free service will allow people to use their PC to plan their journey and sync with their mobile, which will then provide directions.
