Samsung has bolstered its smartphone division with two senior appointments.
Marcus Stone has been appointed head of smart phones UK and Ireland, and Nick France is business solutions sales manager.
Stone joins Samsung Mobile from BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, where he had sales and marketing positions for seven years in Europe and UK mandates, promoting BlackBerry through B2B channels.
France joins Samsung Mobile from Smart Devices, where he has worked on sales in the enterprise and SME customer sectors.
Stone’s job now is to boost Samsung smartphione sales and marketing for the UK and Ireland’s smart phone and business portfolio.
France will be responsible for business-to-business sales within this portfolio, and will support Stone’s role. They report to Derek Williamson, general manager for marketing, products and content for the UK and Ireland.
Their arrival at Samsung follows the launch of the Samsung BizBee range, including the Samsung i780 updated with Windows Mobile 6.1. The range of handsets will be expanded further in 2009.
Samsung’s smartphone market share grew in September and October to 10.9 per cent due to the launch of the Omnia.
