Phones International Group owner and Dragons Den star Peter Jones has been awarded a New Year’s CBE for his services to business, entrepreneurship and young people.

Jones set up Phones International Group, parent company of Marlow-based distributor Data Select, in 1998, taking turnover to more than £120 million a decade later.

Jones started his first company, a successful tennis academy, at the age of 16, and two years later he started his first major business, providing computers and services to corporate clients.

The business collapsed when Mr Jones was in his 20s, but he then joined a large corporation, and by the age of 28 he became the youngest ever head of the personal computer business at Siemens Nixdorf.
