US distributor Strax has bought the accessories division of French distributor Vivanco for an undisclosed fee.
Strax France takes control of Vivanco’s customer accounts, which include a distribution contract with French operators Orange and Bouygues Telecom. Strax said the Orange deal will strengthen its accessories distribution in other Orange markets too, including the UK and Spain.
As part of the acquisition, four staff members from the product management and sales teams have been transferred from Vivanco to Strax France, increasing its total staffing in France to 10. Strax France has moved into larger offices in Paris as a result.
Strax chairman Ingvi Tomasson (pictured) said: “We have been waiting a while for the right strategic opportunity to strengthen our presence in the French market.
“The acquisition of the GSM business unit from Vivanco France was the right fit for Strax and we look forward to make a true impact in France, for both our local employees and all of our current and future customers.
“Additionally, we have gained an important relationship to Orange in the other European markets in which it operates such as the UK and Spain.”
Vivanco chief executive Philipp Gerding said: “We are confident Strax is the right company to develop our GSM channels further and that all of our GSM customers will benefit as a result.”
Strax said the deal covers convergence and fixed line products, as well as mobile accessories from manufacturer names and own-label brands.
Vivanco France sells USB charging cables, car charging cables, Bluteooth headsets and handsfree kits, as well as a range of iPhone and iPod accessories.
