Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs announced yesterday he would be taking a six-month break on medical advice.
Jobs, who announced he is suffering from a hormone imbalance earlier this month to relinquish fears over his sudden gaunt appearance, told Apple employees on Wednesday his health problems were “more complex” than previously thought.
Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2004 and had treatment to remove a malignant tumour and has denied suggestions his illness is related.
Jobs stated in his email he would continue to be involved in decision making whilst on leave.
Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook will take over Jobs’ day to day duties until his expected return in June.
