Samsung Mobile has donated £200,000 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer thanks to sales of the U800 pink handset which was sold exclusively through Phones 4U.

For every handset sold since July 2008, Samsung donated £10 to the charity. The Samsung U800 Pink received prominent in-store activity, plus a highly targeted press advertising campaign.

Phones 4U managing director Brendan Sweeney said: “This successful partnership with Samsung was extremely popular amongst customers and staff alike. Phones 4U staff really got behind this worthy cause, holding raffles and fancy dress days to drive sales of the Samsung U800 Pink and increase the donation.”

Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland vice president Mark Mitchinson said: “The Samsung U800 has proved to be an incredibly popular handset, so setting up this scheme was a great way to raise money for breast cancer research.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to the public and the staff at Phones 4u who have all helped us to raise such a large amount for such an incredibly important cause.”
