Toshiba has unveiled its touchscreen smartphone the TG01, boasting a 1Ghz processor and a 4.1” screen as it aims to make a dent in the mobile phone sector.
Due to hit the market across Europe in summer this year the handset is expected to be at the premium end of the price range, although Toshiba stressed the price would be “very competitive”.
Packing a faster processor than any phone on the market, while also at 9.9mm being the slimmest touchscreen announced, Toshiba claims it has done its research into what consumers want and delivered it.
“People want touchscreens, more power and better battery life in devices,” said Toshiba UK & Ireland country manager Med Jeewoth. “Toshiba has listened and provided a 4.1” screen and a 1Ghz processor with ultra low power consumption so the battery will last.
“I’m currently still finalising deals but we expect to see the handset in all the traditional channels in the UK.”
According to Toshiba, it has transferred its television expertise over to the device to deliver a high quality screen while the inclusion of the first Qualcomm’s Snap Dragon processor to feature in the phone will give it the power to run multiple programs in the Windows Mobile operating system without hindering performance.
