Orange has announced a deal a Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with laptop maker Hewlett Packard (HP) to sell HP laptops with integrated mobile broadband.
The three-year pan-European agreement will see HP notebooks and netbooks shipped with Orange mobile broadband modems as standard in the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Portugal initially, with rollout across the Orange footprint in due course.
Orange said its mobile broadband customer base, including smartphone customers, was 23.2 million at September 30, up 81 per cent on 2007.
Orange vice president Olaf Swantee said: “Our partnership with HP is based on more than just sales. Together, we will define new ways to bring services to customers, from co-marketing activities through to distribution, supply chain and care, reinforcing our commitment to make it easy for everyone to access the Internet and their content, whenever and wherever they want.”
