Samsung unveiled a new music handset sub-brand, ‘BEAT’, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and the first two releases under the brand.
Its ‘BEAT DJ’ and ‘BEAT Disc’ handsets come with a pre-installed application that lets users add their own voice and sound effects to music tracks – so they can ‘scratch’ and ‘mix’ songs to create new sounds.
The device features a 2.8-inch display and 50MB internal memory, expandable to 16GB with a microSD card.
The ‘BEAT Disc’ phone features both slide-out keypad and touchscreen.
Both devices come loaded with Bang & Olufsen’s ICEpower amplifier as well as advanced music applications for finding, purchasing and recommending music.
Samsung executive vice president and head of its mobile communication division JK Shin said: “The Samsung BEAT Edition handsets will take music on mobiles to a whole new level of quality and exciting user experience.
“With amazing sound quality and advanced music application, the BEAT Edition handsets will appeal to a growing base of consumers that want to consolidate their music playing devices without compromising on style, function and experience.”
The Samsung BEAT Editions will be available in the UK in Q2.
