RIM and Lenovo to synch devices

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) and laptop manufacturer Lenovo have struck a deal to integrate Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computers and BlackBerry smartphones more closely.

Lenovo Constant Connect is the first solution developed by Lenovo that will work with BlackBerry handsets and Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to deliver a real-time enterprise email solution. It synchronises BlackBerry enterprise email with Lenovo laptops via Bluetooth.

Leonovo claimed the new solution is flexible and convenient for business users, and reduces spend on fee-based Wi-Fi networks for email retrieval.
Lenovo Constant Connect is expected to be available from Lenovo and Lenovo resellers in the UK in the second half of the year.

Lenovo chief executive Yang Yuanqing said: “Better integration between the two devices is a necessity. This announcement is the first step in combining these solutions to deliver a more useful and powerful mobile work experience.”

RIM co-chief executive Jim Balsillie added: “Lenovo is adding significant value by developing tighter and more seamless integration between Lenovo and BlackBerry.”
