Phones 4U is in the process of carrying out a consultation regarding a proposed restructure of its in-store administration roles that could affect around 290 staff.
As part of the proposal, Phones 4U is opening up over 200 new customer-facing roles for those affected staff. The retailer said this was in response to the company’s continued focus on customer service and growth of market share.
If the proposal goes ahead, Phones 4U said it would offer full support and assistance for all those affected. It said most staff will be redeployed in new roles and the balance should be closer 30.
In a statement Phones 4U said: “Despite the tough economic climate, Phones 4U will continue to invest in its people and the business. The company continues to perform profitably, and its recent growth in market share has driven the need for an increase in customer facing roles.
“However to maintain the company’s position for the future it is now looking to streamline time spent on non-customer activity.”
