£1m for Samsung Lucido ads

Samsung has announced its latest candybar handset aimed at the mid-range market in the UK.

The Lucido, available through all major network and retailers from early April, will be supported by a £1 million press and outdoor marketing campaign and is expected to be available at the mid-range price segment.

The handset includes features such as a 5MP camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, GPS and a 2.2″ AMOLED screen.

Taking its inspiration from the Italian word for sleek the handset is 11.8mm thick and follows a similar design to the Tocco Ultra Edition, to be released later this month.

“Following our recent success in the stylish candybar segment last year the exquisite Lucido is a welcome and truly credible addition to the family,” said Samsung UK and Ireland senior vice-president Mark Mitchinson.

“Set to dominate in 2009, the sleek and feature rich Lucido has all the hallmarks associated with quality and sublime style.”
