Orange is looking to team up with more distributors to develop its push into the IT reseller market following the confirmation of its distribution deal with Brightpoint.
The partnership will see Brightpoint’s IT and PBX resellers target business customers with a range of solutions including Orange connectivity, Orange devices and SIM only deals.
Orange will initially work with around 500 of Brightpoint’s active resellers, with more coming on board as the partnership develops.
It will also allow the operator to take advantage of Brightpoint’s current device agreements with Nokia and RIM, as well as its exclusive agreement with HTC in the UK.
Orange is also connecting via Brightpoint rival Brightstar on a trial basis with a view to a fully fledged distribution contract, although it refused to discuss the Brightstar deal last week.
Orange UK business manager for indirect channels Mark Simm said: “It’s going to be an exciting year for Orange in the IT reseller market space. It’s an area we’re looking to push into and there are similar partnerships in the pipeline.
“It’s a relatively untapped market and our close relationship with Brightpoint, which has a proven track record in this area, will put us in a good position to stay ahead of our rivals.”
Additional support will be given to resellers through a number of Orange-led initiatives including pre-sales training and the ability to access Orange technical support. Both companies will combine to bring hosted email for both Exchange and non-Exchange users, with Orange providing additional email training courses to support resellers.
Simm added: “The training courses will be about informing resellers what Orange is all about – information about our tariffs and how our network works. Training them on the mobile side will enable them to add mobility to the solutions they offer.”
