Nokia launches new ad campaign

Nokia has launched a UK wide outdoor campaign after it revealed that the 5800 XpressMusic was the best selling portable music player in the UK in Q1.

According to GFK Retail and Technology data, the handset was the number one device in both volume and value in the quarter in the UK, making it the best selling portable music player.

Nokia has sold over three million 5800s globally since its launch in November 2008, and continues to ship more than one million units per month.

Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said: “The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has seen very strong demand in every country where it has been launched. Already in Q1 the 5800 was Nokia’s number one revenue and gross margin generating product, and was the number one volume and value product in the UK.

“Despite some capacity constraints, we shipped approximately 2.6 million units in Q1 as the product ramped up globally. Today, all sales are open, we have increased our capacity, and we are shipping the Nokia 5800 at a rate of more than one million units per month.”
