Vodafone in location-based push

Vodafone is preparing to push branded location-based services and is looking for an advertising manager to head this up.

The move follows the network’s acquisition of mobile navigation company Wayfinder. It now plans to trial customer acceptance and engagement with opt-in advertising opportunities based on location.

A spokeswoman said the trials were likely to include branded ‘Points of Interest’, for example, the locations of specific places such as stores, restaurants or petrol stations, and branded locational search. It will also look at other ways that advertising can support the navigation service and add value to customers.

The new advertising manager role will be a key position within the Wayfinder marketing department.
