Richard Moat has been appointed the new managing director of T-Mobile UK and will join the company next month.
Moat, who has been Orange Romania chief executive officer, succeeds Jim Hyde, who left the company for personal reasons at the end of March.
Before becoming CEO of Orange Romania in 2004, Moat held similar positions in Scandinavia and Asia as Orange Denmark CEO from 2002-2004 and Orange Thailand CEO from 2000-2002.
Prior to that he was Orange International group director of finance and corporate finance director and before joining Orange in 1992, he spent 12 years with the USX/Marathon Group in various finance positions.
T-Mobile International chief executive officer and member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telecom Hamid Akhavan said: “Richard has an excellent track-record as an executive with significant international experience in the field of telecommunications, and we are delighted that he will be joining us to lead T-Mobile UK.
