IT boss Doughty quits Avenir

Avenir Telecom has today confirmed its commercial director John Doughty (pictured) is to leave the company next month.

Doughty, who joined Avenir from IT distributor Computer 2000 sixteen months ago, is understood to be setting up a consultancy business for the telecoms and IT sectors.

Doughty previously headed up Avenir’s IT division, and was integral to the development of its partnerships with IT distributors Westcoast and SCC, and also with computer manufacturer HP.

After Computer 2000, and prior to Avenir, Doughty worked at Brightstar Europe for a spell, where he joined up collaboration between its mobile distribution business and IT operation Computer 2000, its joint-venture partner in the UK.

He also worked under Brightstar Europe president Rod Millar at 20:20, before moving to Computer 2000.

Doughty had only recently been placed in charge of Avenir UK’s push on the accessories market, in a bid to replicate some of its success in mainland Europe.

Avenir UK managing director Andy Tow commented: “John has been an important part of a very successful team over the last few years and we wish him well for the future.”

Avenir also confirmed the appointment former Parrot business manager Stuart Balaam as accessories sales director.

Tow added: “Avenir has made strong strides into the mobile accessories market this year and this is an area we plan to significantly develop further.”
