Brightstar Europe has recruited former Avenir Telecom managing director and Vodafone head of distribution Tanny Price in an unspecified role.
Mobile News understands Brightstar Europe president Rod Millar has sought to bring Price in to the operation for her experience of the mobile and IT sales channels.
Brightstar Europe is a joint venture between US handset distributor Brightstar and IT distributor Tech Data, which runs Computer 2000 in the UK.
It has recently struck airtime distribution deals with Orange, O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and 3, Mobile News understands, and is looking to push data and mobile broadband connections in conjuction with smartphone and laptop bundles for all network suppliers, principally to Computer 2000’s 12,000-strong IT reseller base
Brightstar was unavailable for comment, and Price’s precise role is unclear, but Millar is undertsood to want better collaboration between the IT and mobile units for provision of a fully unified communications proposition.
Price left Vodafone in early May, following a brief spell as head of distribution. Avenir, her former employer, sought an injunction against her appointment at Vodafone, eventually settling out of court. Price duly exited.
