Vodafone and Network Rail have partnered to offer Northern Rail passengers and staff access to up-to-date travel information on all 2,600 daily Northern Rail train services.
The application is being used by more than 1,000 Northern Rail train conductors on BlackBerry handsets, and is charged at a set monthly fee.
Vodafone has issued training to staff, as well as setting up installation for each device. Vodafone is to extend the solution to allow staff access to internal processes, such as holiday forms, overtime and rotas.
Vodafone UK enterprise director Peter Kelly said: “The new solution will allow Northern Rail conductors to interact directly with the most up-to-date information available, a key advantage in providing a responsive and efficient service to customers.”
