Recyclers expand as volumes rise

Mobile recycling companies GS UK and Mazuma are looking to expand.

GS UK, a division of accessories distributor Genuine Solutions, wants to recruit four members to its accessories recycling management team, and is also considering expansion overseas.

GS UK said it will seek out “high profile” people in the industry who will be tasked with handling the company’s strategy and operational functions.

Mazuma, meanwhile, has appointed five new test engineers as expansion work on its warehouse nears completion, slated for July. Mazuma boss Charlo Carabott said volumes have begun to increase, with 25,000 handsets per week.  Carabott said Mazuma paid out £2.7 million to customers last month and is on target to pay out around £3.2 million in June.

Also, recycler Mopay has teamed up with M&S to offer customers looking to get paid for secondhand phones better remuneration for taking M&S vouchers as payment. They will receive seven per cent more than the standard cash price from June 22 to 28.
