Apple has announced that it has exceeded one million sales of its new iPhone 3GS within three days of the product’s launch on June 19.

In addition, six million customers downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days since its release.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said: “Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning. With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

The new iPhone 3GS claims to be the fastest iPhone yet, with longer battery life, three megapixel camera, video recording and hands free voice control, as well as the new iPhone OS 3.0. iPhone 3GS offers twice the capacity of the original device with a new 32GB model.
