O2 has partnered with BT to provide its mobile broadband customers with access to BT’s Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots.
The deal will provide the ability for all O2 mobile broadband customers to have access to BT’s 3,000 Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots for the first time.
Access to the hotspots will be available from today to all existing O2 customers and be merged in to its existing unlimited Wi-Fi packages. New customers will benefit from the hotspots at the end of July.
In addition, O2 is also upgrading its mobile broadband ‘Connection Manager’ software, which will now include the ability for customers to monitor their own data usage more easily including information on individual sessions.
Customers will also now receive notifications on remaining data, with messages being sent to the connection manager when usage reaches 75 per cent, 90 per cent and 100 per cent.
O2 head of pay monthly Jonathan Earle said: “We appreciate that our customers want to get the most from their mobile broadband service and we continually look to provide value-added services for them.
“We are introducing two key changes. Firstly, expanding our Unlimited Wi-Fi proposition by introducing BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots allowing our customers to stay connected to the people and things that matter to them most. Secondly, we know that customers want to be able to track how much data they have used. Our simple data counter gives the control that our customers want.”
